The company is busy as of July 2008, producing over 300 parts to be incorporated in MSL (Mars Science Laboratory), scheduled to be launched in 2011 and landing on Mars after ten months of journey to the planet. MSL is the largest robotic vehicle ever to Mars, six wheeled, the size of a small car, nuclear powered, weighing about 1760 lbs. This new Mars rover finally has a new name: Curiosity. The name comes courtesy of Clara Ma, a Twelve-year-old sixth-garde student at Sunflower Elementary school in Lenexa, Kansas. A NASA panel selected the name following a nationwide student contest that attracted more than 9,000 proposals via the Internet and mail. "Curiosity is an everlasting flame that burns in everyone's mind. It makes me get out of bed in the morning and wonder what surprises life will throw at me that day," Clara Ma wrote in her winning essay. "Curiosity is such a powerful force. Without it, we wouldn't be who we are today. Curiosity is the passion that drives us through our everyday lives. We have become explorers and scientists with our need to ask questions and to wonder."
