MARS SCIENCE LABORATORY Undergoing Test & Integration: Pioneer Circuits has produced over 300 parts being incorporated in the newest Mars Rover named “Curiosity”, supporting NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission. Scheduled to be launched in between Nov. 25 and Dec. 18, 2011. Landing will take place take place between Aug. 6 and Aug. 20, 2012. Curiosity is the largest robotic vehicle ever to visit Mars: six wheeled, the size of a small car, nuclear powered, & weighing about 1760 lbs. Curiosity will rove extensively on Mars, carrying an analytical laboratory and other instruments to examine a carefully selected landing area. It will investigate whether conditions there have favored development of microbial life and its preservation in the rock record. Curiosity joins other Mars exploration missions that have been supported by Pioneer Circuits: Pathfinder (1st Mars Rover), Spirit and Opportunity (Mars Exploration Rovers – 2003), and the Phoenix Lander (2008).
