CHALLENGE BACKGROUND



The junction box of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) utilized discrete wiring that experienced electrical failures during reliability vibration tests. Pioneer Circuits was given the challenge of replacing the discrete wiring interconnects with flexible printed circuits that would eliminate the connection errors.

DESIGN PROCESS



The design process began with taking the schematics and electrical data from the original junction box with discrete wiring and transforming it using advanced printed circuits. Our team of experienced engineers would then provide the new concept and eventual redesign utilizing a rigid flex circuit board alternative.

SOLUTION



Pioneer Circuits redesigned the junction box as an easily replaceable rigid flex circuit board that was nearly 50% smaller and lighter than the original unit. The replacement part removed the potential for human error in assembly and put an end to electrical failures with 100% reliability.
